Mark Maynard built an award-winning career at The Daily Independent in Ashland, where he spent 42 years as a sportswriter, sports editor, and managing editor. Along the way, his writing and editing earned numerous state and national honors, while his leadership helped mentor a generation of Kentucky journalists. Mark has authored several books, serves as managing editor of Kentucky Today, and was inducted into the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame.
