It proved to be a monumental day for the Morehead State Rifle program on Saturday as the Eagles defeated North Georgia at Button Range.
For the first time in program history, MSU surpassed the 4,700 benchmark for aggregate total - a mark rifle aficionados consider a massive milestone. MSU defeated the Nighthawks 4,702-4,647 and totaled 300 centers. In the process, the Eagles also established the school Smallbore record at 2,328 with 119 center shots.
For the Smallbore record, Chloe Shannon led the charge with a 586. George Kuhne came in second with a 584, followed by Trey Myers at 581. In his final home match of his career, Hayden Bell came in at 577. Also in her final home match, Adrianna Beard rounded out the counters with a 576.
Air Rifle saw four Eagles eclipse the 590 plateau, led by Bell with a 596. Beard was literally right behind with a 595. Kuhne (592) and Myers (591) contributed as well. Myers also led the team with 77 total centers. Hannah Goin fashioned a 584. While not in the counters, Shannon fired a 585.

MSU is back in action next weekend at the two-day Ohio Valley Conference Championships. The Eagles, Murray State and UT Martin will convene in Martin, Tenn., Saturday and Sunday to determine the league titles and all-conference shooters.
