Nearly a year has passed since the Our Healthy Kentucky Home initiative was started. In that year, officials with the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services aimed to make it easier for Kentuckians to lead healthier lives.
Dr. Steven Stack, the Secretary of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, said ensuring the health of Kentuckians means a brighter future for the Commonwealth. He added small, meaningful lifestyle changes are the key to leading a healthier life.
“Every small step, every healthy meal, every walk with a neighbor, every check-in on a friend builds the kind of Kentucky we want to call home,” said Stack.
Stack said many people in the Commonwealth struggle with chronic health conditions but often are unable to afford treatment. However, he added there are several resources available through the Cabinet that can make treatment options attainable including the Kentucky Prescription Assistance Hotline.
“The Kentucky Prescription Assistance hotline is here to help. If you find you are unable to afford your medication for diabetes or other chronic health conditions, please call 1-800-633-8100,” said Stack.
Additionally, there are resources like the suicide prevention hotline for those experiencing a behavioral or mental health crisis.
