Arts & Crafts Festival returns to downtown Morehead this weekend

Morehead Tourism

The Morehead Arts & Crafts Festival returns with over 100 vendors this year, featuring art, crafts, jewelry, woodwork and food. The Rowan County Veterans Foundation will have their museum open along with a Living History of the Vietnam War display on the side lawn of the Rowan County Arts Center. The festival will also include performances from the Dynamite Twister Gymnasts and the Firecracker Elite Cheerleaders.

Ashley Gilliam, Arts and Culture Director for Morehead-Rowan County Tourism, said the festival is expected to bring in visitors from surrounding counties.

“The Arts Center is a part of Morehead-Rowan County Tourism, and so the main thing is not only do we want locals to have fun, but we want visitors to come have fun. And we just want to have a day of enjoying Morehead,” said Gilliam.

Gilliam also said the festival encourages people to shop local.

“If you get tired of looking at booths on the street, there’s a lot of local businesses, boutiques, restaurants and things like that so you definitely want to shop locally as well,” said Gilliam.

The Arts and Crafts Festival will take place on Main Street in Morehead, September 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
