Rowan County hospital looking for in-home care providers

Samantha Morrill

St. Claire HealthCare is hosting a home care open house and job fair Thursday.

Officials said the hospital has several open positions for their home care services including physical therapists, physical therapy assistants, occupational therapists, licensed practical nurses and registered nurses.

The open house will include refreshments and a chance for sign-on bonuses for full time staff. Qualified applicants will be entered to win a $50 gift card just for attending the event.

Kayla Harrison is the Director of Talent Management. She said St. Claire does a lot of at home care for their patients.

“We cover eight counties in home care. So, we have the opportunity to visit patients at home, where they’re the most comfortable, and we can provide that high-quality care and meet them where they’re at. We have a really good team, our home health services continue to grow and so that’s why we’re looking for more additions to that,” said Harrison.

The Talent Management Director added that in addition to full-time positions, St. Claire also offers job shadowing opportunities for interested students.

“We would gladly take anybody that just wants to see what it’s like and get on the road with one of our staff members. We have to go through a screening process to get them in here, which can typically take a week to a month, depending on how long it takes the background check to get back. We work closely with Northeast AHEC group and they help us schedule shadowing so if they are already in school and established with clinicals or something of the sort, we can get them in even sooner,” said Harrison.

The open house starts at 3 PM and ends at 6 PM. It will be held at the St. Claire Hospice Services Building.

More information about the event as well as job openings can be found at St. Claire HealthCare’s website.
