Some residents in Morehead are hoping to bring some interesting changes to those living within city limits.
Public comments were heard during the regular April meeting of Morehead City Council Monday night regarding a couple of topics: permitting golf carts to be driven within city limits, and changing the ordinance in place regarding chickens on private property. State law says golf carts cannot be driven on public roadways unless a city passes its own ordinance on the matter.
As for the chickens, the City of Morehead has an ordinance that allows residents to have chickens on their property, but only if the chickens can be housed 200 feet from any building on the owner's or another individual's property.
Committees have been formed with citizens and city officials to explore the potential for each issue.
