Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday (March 13) at 2:00a.m. Remember to set all clocks forward one hour before you go to bed Saturday night.

It’s also recommended to change batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors and fire alarms. Check batteries in media devices, children's toys, and other items such as flashlights, garage door openers, electronic remote devices, and clocks.

Inspect first aid kits in your home and car, replacing outdated or missing items. Update emergency phone numbers, phone contacts and review your family's emergency plan in the event of severe weather.

Maintain your vehicle by changing wiper blades, belts, oil and filters. Check your car battery, coolant, brake fluid, and tire pressure, rotating the tires as needed.

Clean-out your closets, garage, barn, and storage areas by donating used items in good condition to local social service agencies and homeless shelters. Consider the environment before disposing items by recycling batteries, paint, medicine, electronics, cardboard, metal, plastic, and other items.

Contact your local Health Department, County Extension Office or Recycling Center for more information and tips to prepare for the spring and summer months.

Remember to Spring Forward this weekend!
