Morehead State University will limit student events and launch a vaccination incentive program for faculty and staff starting next week.
COVID-positive cases continue to climb in the region, and local hospitals are overwhelmed and understaffed.
In a campus update broadcast to employees Wednesday afternoon, MSU President Dr. Jay Morgan said students want to continue to have in-person options for classes. In order to keep the classrooms open, Morgan says new mitigation strategies will begin after Labor Day.
Morgan also announced a 30 day vaccination challenge for employees and students.
A drawing will be held in October for prizes and stipends for those who participate.
He said at this time, he does not expect a statewide vaccine mandate for university employees to be put in place.
