New FamilyLeisure.com Court Ready for Play; Fans Can Own Personalized Section of Original Floor

https://msueagles.com/

Through a significant corporate partnership, the competition court in Johnson Arena in the Academic-Athletic Center has been replaced with a state-of-the-art surface and brand new design.

The court is now named FamilyLeisure.com Court. CEO of Family Leisure Inc, and 1971 Morehead State graduate, Andy Prefontaine, collaborated with MSU to complete this project. In addition to owning nine Family Leisure retail stores across the south and Midwest, Prefontaine is also the founder and CEO of Sierra Advertising and owner of Pendleton Pike Properties, Watson's Properties and Watson of Minnesota Properties.

"We want to thank Andy and Family Leisure for sharing our vision and partnering with us on this crucial project," said Director of Athletics Jaime Gordon. "We place the student-athlete at the heart of our decisions, and our original playing surface was no longer adequate to support the rigors of three teams (both basketball teams and volleyball). The floor didn't serve the wellbeing of our student-athletes during practice and competition in ways that current technology can. The new design will shine for our fans attending games as well as those watching our ESPN broadcasts. We would not have been able to tackle this project without the help of Andy and his commitment to our students."

The prior playing floor was the original wood and undersurface from when the facility was originally built in 1981. Morehead State Athletics is providing fans with the opportunity to own a piece of history. Sections of the original floor have been saved and can be personalized for purchase.
