Muschong Claims Third Golfer of the Week Honor This Season
For the third time this season, fifth-year Joe Muschong has been named OVC Golfer of the Week, the league announced Wednesday.
Muschong is coming off two stellar performances this week. Muschong opened his week by sweeping his two matchups against Northern Kentucky. With his two victories, Muschong now holds the program record for most match play wins with seven.
The Eagles then traveled to Indianapolis, Ind., for the Butler Spring Invitational, where Muschong led the team to a third-place finish. The Lexington native finished tied for 4th, carding rounds of 70-70—140. Muschong tied for the lowest par 5 average at -3 and was tied for the second most birdies in the tournament with eight.
On the season, Muschong now has four top-5 finishes and is second in the OVC in scoring average with 71.4.
Muschong and the Eagles return to the links next week at the Carpenter-Chaney Classic dual hosted by Morehead State and UT Martin. The two-day match play event tees off from Tunica National in Tunica, Miss.
