Broome Voted the OVC Player of the Week

Morehead State second-year center Johni Broome was selected Monday as the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week.

The 6-10 Plant City, Fla., native averaged 18.5 points, 14.5 rebounds and 4.5 blocked shots per game as the Eagles knocked off Belmont and SIUE to remain perfect (6-0) in the OVC race.

Broome started the week with a 17-point effort against Belmont while also grabbing a career-best 18 rebounds and blocking three shots. He wrapped it up on Saturday by helping key a 17-0 second-half run and scoring 20 points to go along with 11 rebounds against SIUE. Broome also blocked six shots for the sixth game this season.

Broome now has 12 double-doubles this year to rank first in the OVC and fourth nationally, while he has 25 career double-doubles in 49 career games.

The Eales host Tennessee State Monday night at 7 p.m. ET.
