Preece Crowned OVC Baseball Player of the Week

MSU Athletics

Morehead State's Ryley Preece had a week to remember, and his prolific offensive output at Austin Peay has earned him the latest Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Player of the Week honor.

A native of Paintsville, Ky., and a Johnson Central High School alum, Preece helped Morehead State win a series at Austin Peay for the first time since 2015 and move into first place early here in the OVC race.

In the three-game set, he nailed four home runs and hit .615, recording multi-hit games in all three. In Thursday's opener, Preece hit a three-run homer and a solo homer to account for all of the Eagles' runs.

In game two, he was 3-for-6 with another home run, three RBI and two runs scored. He finished off the week by going 3-for-3 with his fourth long ball while scoring three times and knocking in two runs. He raised his batting average 62 points to .333. Preece scored seven times in the series and led the team with nine RBI.

On the season, Preece ranks third on the Eagles with his .333 batting average. His five home runs now rank second on the squad.
