Barbee Named PFL Defensive Player of the Week

MSU Athletics

A day after intercepting two passes to help Morehead State football win its PFL game 28-24 over Valparaiso, junior cornerback Brandon Barbee has been tabbed as the league's co-Defensive Player of the Week.

An Orlando, Fla., native Barbee put MSU on top by two scores with 2:54 left in the first quarter when he picked off a pass at the Valpo 47-yard line ad weaved his way through all 11 Valpo players to the end zone for the Eagles' second "pick six" in as many games.

In the fourth quarter, with less than two minutes left and Valpo with the ball down only four, Barbee intercepted a pass at the 39-yard line on a diving grab to effectively seal the victory.

He also added three tackles (two solo) and led a defensive unit that held Valpo to only 88 passing yards.

Barbee now leads the PFL with five interceptions, part of an MSU defensive unit that also leads the league and ranks in the top five in the FCS with 13 pick-offs in just six games.

The Eagles wrap up the spring season Saturday with a rematch against Butler at 4 p.m. ET. MSU just beat the Bulldogs 35-14 on the road a week ago.
