MSU Athletics

For the eighth time in program history, Morehead State volleyball has claimed an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Midwest Region player as junior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier garnered the honor as the organization announced its All-Region selections Tuesday.

Lohmeier joins Amy Almond (2001 & 2002), Katelyn Barbour (2008), Kirstie Brangers (2010), Caitlin Clark (2011), Holly Evans (2010), Ellie Roberson (2012), and Leslie Schellhaas (2013) on the list of Eagles honored as an AVCA All-Region player. She also joins Almond (twice), Barbour, Evans, and Roberson to garner an outright AVCA All-Region selection.

En route to earning an All-Region selection, Lohmeier turned in one of the best junior seasons in program history, recording a class-record 564 kills. Her kill total ranks as the fourth-best single-season total in school history while also breaking Lauren Mackey's 22-year junior class record kill total of 560.

Lohmeier finished her season ranking top-25 in the NCAA in six different offensive categories, finding herself ranked sixth in points (620.5), seventh in kills (564), tenth in total attacks (1,448), 13th in kills per set (4.74), 15th in attacks per set (12.17), and 16th in points per set (5.21).

Her selection as an AVCA All-Region performer also adds to a long list of career accomplishments that included her selection as the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year, a two-time All-OVC First Team Selection (2018 & 2019), an eight-time OVC Offensive Player of the Week selection, and a two-time OVC Newcomer of the Week selection.

Overall, Lohmeier wrapped the 2019 campaign with 564 kills, 53.0 total blocks, and 26 service aces to total 620.5 points. She also finished the season hitting .253 on 1,448 attacks.

Lohmeier enters her senior season ranked 14th on Morehead State's career kills list, registering 1,223 career kills as she is one of 20 players in program history to have collected 1,000 or more career kills.
