Volleyball's Olivia Lohmeier Earns Third OVC Offensive Player of the Week Nod

MSU Athletics

Following a weekend that saw her record an Ohio Valley Conference-high 49 kills, Morehead State volleyball's Olivia Lohmeier garnered OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors. The award marks the seventh of Lohmeier's career while also marking the ninth overall OVC weekly award win of her career.

The junior outside hitter recorded 5.44 kills per set (49 kills in nine sets) against Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State last weekend, also adding in six total blocks to tally 39.5 points. Lohmeier registered her 49 kills on 116 swings, committing just 11 errors to fashion a .328 hitting percentage across the two matches.

Against Tennessee Tech, Lohmeier recorded 24 kills over four sets (6.00 per set), hitting .283 on 60 swings. She added 10 digs in the match to tally her second double-double of the season and the third of her career. Lohmeier collected 17 of her match-high 24 kills across the second and third sets versus the Golden Eagles, including 10 in the fourth and final set.

To wrap the weekend against Jacksonville State, she recorded a team-leading 25 kills, hitting .375 for the match. Lohmeier also added a season-high-tying five total blocks in the match, including Morehead State's lone solo block. In total, she tallied a match-best 28.0 points.

On the season, the Cincinnati, Ohio native leads Morehead State, ranking eighth in the NCAA and second in the OVC with 291 total kills. Lohmeier also ranks top-25 in the nation in five additional categories, including kills per set (eighth; 4.85), points (10th; 315.5), points per set (10th; 5.26), attacks per set (17th; 12.03), and total attacks (19th; 722).

For her career, Lohmeier sits 50 kills shy of joining one of the most exclusive groups in Morehead State volleyball history as she approaches 1,000 career kills. In reaching 1,000 kills, Lohmeier would be the 20th member of the 1,000 kill club at Morehead State, becoming the first member of the group since Aryn Bohannon joined in 2013.

Lohmeier and Morehead State kick off a three-game homestand Wednesday at Johnson Arena, hosting in-state rival Eastern Kentucky. First serve is set for 6 p.m. ET.
