Six Morehead State Programs Achieve Perfect APR Scores

MSU Athletics

Six Morehead State athletic programs achieved a perfect score in the latest NCAA Academic Progress Rate reports, while all teams made significant improvements to their multi-year APR totals.

It marks the second consecutive year that six teams have achieved perfect single-year scores.

The NCAA's multi-year APR is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort. The APR provides a real-time look at and full assessment of each team's academic performance by tracking the progress of every student-athlete on scholarship each semester. It takes into account eligibility, retention and graduation. This report is the four-year cohort leading up to the 2017-18 year.

Volleyball, rifle, women's track, soccer, men's golf and women's golf earned perfect 1,000 scores for the latest totals.

Among the programs taking substantial efforts to improve this year was women's golf and football. Women's golf made the highest single-season jump, improving by 71 points from the 2016-17 report to the latest one. Football increased its number by 53 over the past year.

Men's cross country (+47), men's track (+47), men's basketball (+38), soccer (+32) and women's basketball (+17) also made huge strides.

Every program improved its multi-year total. Volleyball already had a 1,000 multi-year total, the highest score attainable.

Schools and programs can be hit with penalties, including postseason bans, if they do not meet the NCAA threshold of a 930 score for the previous four-year report period. Morehead State has never incurred any postseason bans.
