MSU Athletics

Morehead State women's basketball's Miranda Crockett, Aliyah Jeune, and McKenzie Calvert have received 2018-19 All-Ohio Valley Conference honors the league announced Tuesday.

The senior guard Crockett was named First Team All-OVC after she paced the Eagles in points during the season - racking up a conference-best 566 points with a career-best season average of 18.3 points per contest which ranked third in the conference.

The Martinsville, Va., native scored in double figures during all 31 games during the season and is currently riding a streak of 35 games of 10-or-more points that dates back to February 15, 2018. The 5-foot-8 guard also finished top ten in the OVC for rebounds per game (7.1, 9th), field-goal percentage (.495, 7th), steals per game (2.0, 4th), and minutes played per game (34.4, 3rd). Crockett won one OVC Player of the Week award during the season on November 20.

Crockett moved to third on the Eagles' all-time scoring list during the season and has now racked up 1,780 points.

"Miranda had probably the best season start-to-finish of her four years with us," said Morehead State head coach Greg Todd. "She's not only scored the ball at a high clip but she's also been one of our best defenders and rebounders. I'm happy for Miranda as she works so hard and is very deserving of this honor."

Joining Crockett on the All-OVC First Team is junior guard Aliyah Jeune. Jeune knocked down the second-most triples in the league (73) and finished sixth in scoring with a 16.6 point per game clip. Jeune, who started in just two games during the season, was also responsible for 2.8 assists and 5.8 rebounds per game.

Jeune was also recognized as one of the league's top new faces with OVC All-Newcomer Team honors. The 6-foot-1, Westampton, N.J., native began her career at Rutgers before joining the Eagles for the 2018-19 campaign.

"Aliyah worked extremely hard for the season she had," said Todd. "She was one of the best shooters in the conference and became a solid defender for us that could matchup with all five positions. Aliyah is one of the best players in the league without a doubt in my mind and she is really deserving of this honor."

Calvert earned All-OVC Second Team honors after chipping in 12.7 points per contest, pulling down 3.9 rebounds per game, and dishing out 3.1 assists per game. The high-energy combo guard from Schertz, Texas made a real impact defensively as well as she nabbed 1.8 steals per contest, ranking sixth in the OVC.

"McKenzie is probably the best athlete that I have ever coached," said Todd. "She has the ability to take over games when she wants with her tenacious defense and ability to drive and create her own shot. She is just a very special player that has earned this honor."

The trio helped lead Morehead State to its third consecutive 20-win season and its second-highest win mark (22) in program history.

Crockett, Jeune, and Calvert will play in the first round of the 2019 Ohio Valley Conference Championship Tournament on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. ET against Jacksonville State.
