Softball's Kylie Holton named OVC Player of the Week

Morehead State Athletics

Morehead State softball juniorKylie Holton has been named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for the first time in her career.

She is the third player to be recognized this season, following junior Chelsea McManaway, who has twice been named OVC Pitcher of the Week, and sophomore Allison Rager, who was named OVC Player of the Week.

Holton hit a perfect 1.000, recording hits in all six at-bats, including a grand slam, against Southeast Missouri on Saturday.

In the 6-2 win, she got the Eagles on the board in the second inning with an RBI double and then went 3-for-3 with the grand slam in game two. She finished the day, hitting 6-for-6 with a double, home run, and five runs batted in.

"Kylie had an excellent day at the plate. She made great adjustments at the plate and hit the ball to all fields. She really created problems for the opposing pitchers," said head coach David Williams.

On the season, she is hitting .353, which ranks second on the team, with four home runs and 11 runs batted in. Her slugging percentage is .627.

The Eagles host East Tennessee State in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday before hosting Jacksonville State on Saturday and Tennessee Tech on Sunday.
