Wilson Scores Two Goals in Soccer Victory

MSU Athletics

Freshman forward Dani Wilson collected both goals, including an overtime clinching tally for Morehead State soccer (2-1) in its 2-1 victory over Bowling Green (2-1) Friday night under the glow at Jayne Stadium.

"The result is awesome to get that first win, but the way we played was even better," said Head Coach Warren Lipka. "We were much better on the ball today, and we created scoring opportunities."

MSU outshot BGSU 16-14, including seven shots on goal. Wilson led the way with two shots, converting on each shot, while she was backed up by junior forward Angela Black, senior midfielder Macy Kootz, and senior defender Kelsey Gomez who each had two shots.

Wilson has had a productive start to her college career, scoring three goals over three matches, including two penalty kicks over that span.

"Dani scoring those two goals, creating off the penalty kicks, then scoring the game winner, you don't see that from a freshman," said Lipka. "I thought (freshman forward) Abby Timm was just as good up top, she could have got one for herself."

Timm collected her first career assist on the match-winning goal by Wilson at the 98:35 mark. The Falcons generated their lone goal in the 64th minute when Leah Runkle converted a ricocheted shot by a teammate.

Senior goalkeeper Kaitlynn Murphy thwarted a season-high five shots by the visitors.

MSU will be back in action Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, as the Eagles take on Xavier.
