Morehead State President Dr. Wayne D. Andrews and Director of Athletics Brian Hutchinson will chair Ohio Valley Conference leadership boards in 2015-16.
Andrews will serve as chair of the Board of Presidents, while Hutchinson will chair the Board of Directors of Athletics. Both previously served in those roles in 2006-07.
Andrews has served as the 13th president of Morehead State since Jan. 1, 2005.
Andrews has more than 30 years of higher education experience at three public, comprehensive universities: Morehead State, East Tennessee State and Illinois State. He has served in a variety of roles, including a tenured professorship in engineering technology, department chair, executive assistant to the president, vice president for student affairs, vice president for administration, and chief operating officer and president.
He was appointed by Gov. Ernie Fletcher and then reappointed by Gov. Steve Beshear as one of Kentucky's five representatives on the Southern Regional Education Board.
Hutchinson, a two-time graduate of MSU, was named his alma mater's director of athletics in 2004.
Under Hutchinson's guidance, MSU has claimed 17 conference championships in the last six years. He has led successful fundraising campaigns, facility improvement projects, budget increases and targeted marketing and branding efforts.
Hutchinson also serves as the interim assistant vice president and dean of students for Morehead State. He chaired the search committee for a new chief of police and director of recreation and wellness. Through his unique position in athletics and with the campus, Hutchinson was heavily involved in the current campus master plan steering team and the information technology infrastructure project steering team. He serves on the President's Leadership Council and President's Diversity Team.
Since 2004, 58 student-athletes have won a major postseason award from the OVC or Pioneer Football League and more than 300 have been named to an all-conference team.
Hutchinson has been active with the NCAA, National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and OVC leadership teams throughout his tenure.
He currently serves on the NCAA Division I Council as the inaugural OVC representative, Competition Oversight Standing Committee, Division I Football Championship Committee and the Football Championship Subdivision Central Regional Advisory Committee. He has also served on the Division I Football Issues Committee (2013-14), Division I Recruiting and Personnel Issues Committee (2008-11), FCS Governance Committee (2006-08) and FCS Division I Football Issues Committee (2006-08).
Hutchinson served as president of the NACDA FCS Athletic Directors Association in 2013-14 and is a member of the FCS Athletic Directors Association Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Academic All-Star Team Selection Committee.
