Clayton Meyer Tabbed OVC Baseball Player of the Week

MSU Athletics

Morehead State senior Clayton Meyer has earned his first career Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week accolade after helping the Eagles defeat Northern Kentucky and claim their fifth straight league series with two victories against Eastern Illinois.

Meyer, who started as the Eagles' designated hitter in all four contests, raised his batting average from .143 to .412 last week. Prior to the NKU contest, he was 2-for-14 in primarily pinch-hit appearances.

The St. Peters, Mo., native, collected 12 hits, including two doubles and two home runs, and drove in 11 RBI. He opened with a 4-for-6 effort with four runs scored and four RBI against NKU Wednesday. Meyer batted .571 (8-for-14) in the Eastern Illinois series with seven RBI. He recorded a career-best six RBI in Saturday's contest.

Morehead State has two conference series remaining before the league tournament. The second-place Eagles will travel to Jacksonville State this weekend and finish with a home series against Murray State on May 14-16.
