Morehead State sophomore Ritchie Kruunenberg (Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands) has been named the Ohio Valley Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week. Kruunenberg is in his first season at MSU after transferring from Ohio Dominican.
Kruunenberg went 2-0 last week at No. 1 with straight set wins over Belmont and Tennessee State to improve to 4-0 in OVC singles this season. He defeated the reigning OVC Player of the Year Mauricio Antun of Belmont, 6-4, 6-2. Antun was previously 10-0 in league singles matches since last season after transferring from Virginia Tech.
Kruunenberg teamed up with sophomore Gabriel Ruiz to beat Belmont's Antun and Marko Lovrinovic, 8-6, at No. 1 doubles. Kruunenberg also defeated Tennessee State's top player, Daryl Hale, 6-3, 6-4.
Morehead State travels to Austin Peay Friday and Murray State Saturday.
