MSU Cheer Team Wins Second Straight National Title

MSU Athletics

Morehead State's all-girl cheerleading squad claimed its second consecutive national championship Saturday at the Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) College Nationals in Orlando, Fla.

The all-girl team edged out West Georgia to win its 10th UCA championship and 36th overall title for the Morehead State cheer program since 1988.

MSU's coed team finished as the national runner-up for the second straight year, narrowly coming in behind Delaware.

The coed partner stunt duo (Matthew Henry and Katrina Perkins) and all-girl stunt group (Taylor DeSimone, Britnee Senner, Melissa Bull and Kellen Gades) each finished second in the nation. Both those groups were also crowned the "fan favorites" in a worldwide twitter contest.

"I am ecstatic for our all-girl group for winning another national championship," Head Coach Mark Coleman said. "I am also proud of our coed team and stunt teams. We came up a little short, but they have all worked extremely hard and performed very well."

The MSU Dance Team also competed at the Universal Dance Association National Championships for the third straight season.
