Flory's Hat Trick Lifts Soccer To Victory

MSU Athletics

Senior forward Jade Flory tallied all of the Morehead State soccer team's goals in a 3-1 victory over Illinois-Chicago on Friday night (August 29) at Flames Field. The reigning Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year found the back of the net in the sixth, 28th and 37th minutes to help the Eagles build an early three-goal cushion.

MSU improves to 2-0-1 on the season, while UIC falls to 0-4.

Flory is in her second season at Morehead State after transferring from Youngstown State. She now has 17 goals and 39 points in just 25 contests at MSU. Flory converted on 3-of-4 shot attempts at UIC. Senior forward Macy Cobb was credited with one assist, while the other two goals were unassisted.

Both teams fired 11 shots, while Morehead State managed a 9-4 advantage in attempts on goal. Cobb and sophomore forward Angela Black recorded three shots apiece for the Eagles. MSU junior goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd, who allowed just one goal while posting three saves, earned the victory.

Sophomore forward Jasmin Carrera netted UIC's only goal, but it came with just 3:01 to play.

Morehead State wraps up its four-match road trip on Sunday (August 31) at Mid-American Conference opponent Ball State. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. The Eagles return to Jayne Stadium next Friday (Sept. 5) for their home opener against Sun Belt Conference foe Appalachian State. That contest is set for 6 p.m.
