The Morehead State soccer team opens its 2014 season this week with a pair of road matches. The Eagles kick off the campaign at Bowling Green on Friday (August 22) at 7 p.m. and finish the weekend at Northern Kentucky Sunday (August 24) at 1 p.m.
Morehead State started the 2013 season 0-7-1 but rebounded to win 10 of its last 14 matches while going 7-3 in Ohio Valley Conference contests. The Eagles claimed second place in the league standings and won the OVC Tournament. MSU fell 2-0 to Wake Forest in the NCAA Tournament opening round.
Bowling Green, a member of the Mid-American Conference, was 0-15-2 in 2013. The Falcons have not won a match since Aug. 26, 2012, going 0-30-3 in that span. NKU, from the Atlantic Sun Conference, recorded a 6-10-2 mark in 2013.
Morehead State will remain on the road next weekend, visiting Illinois-Chicago and Ball State. The home opener is set for Sept. 5 versus Appalachian State.
