MSU Soccer Quartet Named Preseason All-OVC

MSU Athletics

College Sports Madness has selected four Morehead State soccer student-athletes to its preseason All-Ohio Valley Conference squad. Senior forward Jade Flory was tabbed the league's Preseason Player of the Year.

In addition to Flory, sophomore forward Angela Black and junior defender Kelsey Gomez were named first-team. Senior midfielder Holly Tilley was tabbed second-team.

Flory, a native of Chambersburg, Pa., and the 2013 OVC Offensive Player of the Year, netted a team-best 14 goals. The Youngstown State transfer added five assists and tied the school single-season record with five match-winning scores.

Hailing from St. Louis, Black captured the OVC Freshman of the Year award in 2013. She scored six times and handed out four assists.

Gomez, who is from Katy, Texas, led a defensive unit that ranked fourth in the conference in goals allowed and goals against average. She helped MSU post five shutouts, including four in conference matches.

A Columbus, Ohio product, Tilley notched a pair of assists and scored once last season. She started all 22 matches.

Morehead State's regular-season opener is slated for Aug. 22 at Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green. The home opener is scheduled for Sept. 5 versus Appalachian State from the Sun Belt Conference.
