Bognot And Magnusson Earn OVC Honors

MSU Athletics

Morehead State golfers Vanessa Bognot and Anna Magnusson have earned 2013-14 Ohio Valley Conference postseason honors.  Both individuals are members of the 10-person All-OVC team, while Magnusson has also landed on the five-person All-Newcomer list.

Bognot, a junior from Granada Hills, Calif., was an All-OVC selection in 2012-13 and All-Newcomer choice in 2011-12.  She ranks second on the team in stroke average (77.5) and top-10 performances (3).  Her low round is a 71, her best two-round mark is a 151 and her best 54-hole score is a 219.

Magnusson, a freshman from Taby, Sweden, gives MSU someone on the All-Newcomer squad for the sixth consecutive year.  She leads the Eagles in stroke average (76.1) and top-10 performances (5).  Her low round is a 71, her best two-round mark is a 147 and her best 54-hole score is a 219.

"Congratulations to Vanessa and Anna," Head Coach Stephanie Barker said.  "Both individuals are deserving of this recognition.  They represent Morehead State very well, on and off the course.  They are outstanding people, talented golfers and work hard in the classroom.  I'm glad they are Eagles."

Morehead State has now had all-league performers in sixth straight campaigns.  Bognot, Marisa Kamelgarn, Katie Rice and Anna Appert Lund were recognized last year.  Appert Lund also became MSU's third straight OVC Golfer of the Year, following Emma Jonsson (2011) and Kamelgarn (2012).

The 2014 OVC Women's Golf Championship is taking place on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Ala.  The Coach of the Year, Golfer of the Year, All-Tournament Team and Tournament Most Valuable Player awards will be presented after the final round on Wednesday (April 23).

"We are excited about the OVC Championship," Barker added.  "Fair or unfair, we are judged each year by how we play at the league tournament.  It's how people will remember our student-athletes when they look back on this season.  We are expecting a good three-day performance in Alabama."
