Former MSU Athlete Competes At Sochi Olympics

Morehead State athletics has a connection with the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia.

Dallas Robinson, a former MSU football and track & field student-athlete, is a pushman for the United States' two-man and four-man bobsled teams. His sled finished 13th in the two-man event held last week. The men's four-man competition will be one of the last events of the Olympic Games, taking place Feb. 22-23.

A native of Crestwood, Ky., Robinson was a defensive back on the Eagle football team in 2001. He registered 23 tackles and a fumble recovery as a freshman. He also suited up as a sprinter for the MSU track and field team in 2002, leading the squad in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races at several meets.

Robinson transferred to Eastern Kentucky and finished his collegiate career as an Ohio Valley Conference champion sprinter. He currently serves as an assistant track and field coach at Georgetown College and is a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program.

Robinson is coached by another former MSU student-athlete, Brian Shimer, who was a wide receiver on the Eagle football team from 1981-84, is the men's bobsled team’s head coach. Shimer competed in five Olympic Winter Games and helped his country win the bronze medal at the 2002 event in Salt Lake City.
