Duquesne Overpowers Women's Hoops In 83-35 Win

Duquesne jumped out to a 12-0 lead and did not look back in an 83-35 victory over the Morehead State women's basketball team Sunday (Nov. 24) at MSU’s Johnson Arena.

Orsi Szecsi led the Dukes (4-2) with a triple-double, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Raegan Moore had a team-high 21 points. Jose-Ann Johnson (14) and April Robinson (12) also finished with double-figure scoring outputs.

Sophomore guard Monique Bunk finished with a career-best seven points, while junior guard Almesha Jones also had seven to lead MSU (4-3).

Duquesne, members of the Atlantic 10 Conference, held the Eagles scoreless for a 6:28 span in the opening half and scored 17 points off 13 MSU turnovers.

The Dukes hit 18-of-35 (51 percent) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, and forced the Eagles into just 15 percent efficiency (4-of-26). DU led 44-12 at the break. Duquesne kept up its proficient shooting by going 15-of-25 (60 percent) in the second half. The Eagles were 8-of-24 (33 percent).

The Eagles were outscored 46-16 in the paint and were outrebounded 43-27.

MSU will attempt to win its fourth straight road game Wednesday (Nov. 27) when it faces Horizon League opponent Cleveland State for a 1 p.m. contest.
