Flory's 10th Goal Of The Season Lifts Eagles Past Murray State

Junior forward Jade Flory's10th goal of the season helped lift the Morehead State soccer team to a 1-0 victory over visiting Murray State on Sunday (October 20) at MSU’s Jayne Stadium.

The goal, scored in the 57th minute, puts Flory in a fourth-place tie in MSU (6-9-1, 5-2) single-season history. Her 25 points are now fifth place on the school single-season list.

Morehead State has now claimed three straight Ohio Valley Conference victories, marking the Eagles' first three-match success streak since 2011.

Murray State's (4-10-1, 1-7) best chance of the match came in the 32nd minute when Lauren Frazier broke behind the Eagle defense, but sophomore goalkeeper Elizabeth Floyd raced in to grab the ball off Frazier's foot.

The Eagles outshot Murray State 10-7 in the opening 45 minutes, but the Racers had a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. Morehead State was forced to defend five corners, while taking only one.

Murray State managed just one shot in the second half, while the Eagles finished with 10. Racer goalkeeper Savanna Haberman made six second half saves. Flory led the Eagles with six shots, including three on goal, while junior Caity Fox had four.

The Eagles return to action on Friday (October 25) for their final road test of the regular season at Tennessee Tech. Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
