The No. 20 Morehead State rifle team defeated Rose-Hulman4,565-4,453 to open the 2013-14 season Saturday (October 5) at Button Rifle Range.The Eagles tallied a 2289 smallbore score, followed by a 2276 mark in air rifle to combine for 4,565.
"Our first match of the year is a good starting point for us," said Head Coach Walt Rybka. "I think we have a lot more potential. It was a learning experience for us, and there was some first match jitters."
Junior Ethan Cole led the way for MSU as he had a team high 581 in smallbore and a 580 mark in air rifle. Senior Mary Saenger finished with a 575 in smallbore and 566 in air rifle.
Adam Foss recorded a total score of 1120 (556-564) to lead Rose Hulman.
Morehead State returns to action on October 19 at U-T Martin.
