Another candidate has thrown his hat into the political ring in a bid for the seat currently held by State Rep. Mike Denham.
Denham announced last month he is not seeking another term.
James E. Johnson, of Brooksville, announced he has filed for the position as representative of Kentucky’s 70th House District which covers Mason, Bracken, Fleming and Robertson counties.
Johnson, who lives on a small farm in Bracken County, with his wife and child, works at All-Rite Ready Mix in Wilder.
According to Johnson, he is pro life, jobs, tax and pension reforms, and pro gun, and is striving to make Kentucky number one.
His family also participated in the campaign efforts of Governor Matt Bevin.
Earlier this month John VanMeter Jr. of Maysville, also filed as a candidate for the position.
Both candidates are scheduled to appear at the Bracken County Republican meeting Jan. 14, at 7 p.m., at the ParkView Inn, in Augusta.
