Rogers Supports Funding For Water Development Projects

Connecticut Audubon Society

Congressman Hal Rogers says approval of a new energy and water development appropriations measure will make the country safer and improve the economy. The Pulaski County Republican urged passage of the bill on the House floor on Wednesday (July 9).

Rogers says it provides 27-point-three billion dollars for “all of the above” energy initiatives. In addition, he says, five-point-five billion dollars is allocated for water projects spearheaded by the Army Corps of Engineers.

“We’ve rejected the administration’s proposed cuts to these programs, providing nearly one billion dollars more than requested and 25 million above last year’s levels. That funding will allow the Corp to continue its important work performing flood mitigation, updating dam safety and improving our waterways to facilitate increased import and export capability.” –Hal Rogers

Rogers heads the House Appropriations Committee. He claims the 2015 spending authorization supports economic growth and security but does so in a fiscally responsible manner.
