Rep. Pullin Speaks About Veteran Unemployment at NCSL

State Representative Tanya Pullin says a lot of progress has been made over the past three years to help ex-military personnel find jobs in the private sector. The South Shore Democrat talked about the issue Wednesday during the National Conference of State Legislatures in Atlanta. Pullin chairs the Military Affairs and Public Protection Committee in the Kentucky House.

She says the unemployment rate among veterans in 2010 was over 13%. However, Pullin says new figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics now tell a different story…

"In the second quarter of 2013...the unemployment rate for post-911 veterans has dropped significantly...and is almost the same as the unemployment rate for non-veterans." - Tanya Pullin

Pullin says that’s a tribute to the efforts the Department of Defense, Kentucky and many other states have made toward finding employment for men and women who’ve served their country.
