Morehead State University Developing Plans For Performing Arts Center

Mount Holy Oke

Morehead State University will seek state funding next year for a 60-point-seven million dollar education and performing arts center.

Beth Patrick is MSU’s chief financial officer and she says the new building would house the university’s Music, Theatre and Dance programs.

“We’re looking at this new performing arts center…it’s a teaching facility that will house those departments. It will have performance venues but it will also have instruction spaces, practice spaces and will be just a real state-of-the art facility for those disciplines.”

Patrick says the university looked into renovating Baird Music Hall but that didn’t appear to be a viable option. She says the music department has needed new a facility for a long time.
