Morehead State University Breaks Ground on Campus Construction Projects

Morehead State University

Ground was broken at Morehead State University on Thursday for three construction projects valued at nearly 50-million dollars.

The largest is a new residence hall that will house 550 students. The facility will be built on the site where the former Wilson and Regents Halls once stood.

MSU President Wayne Andrews says it’ll be near the second biggest project, a 17-point-six million dollar structure that’ll include a parking garage and a student dining facility.

Dr. Andrews describes it as a “fabulous, suite style building.”

“So, it will give us the ability to have amenities that students come into colleges and universities desire. More privacy in the bedrooms, more privacy in the bathrooms, up-to-date, modern conveniences which they deserve.”

The other projects are a 48-bed residential facility at the Derrickson Agricultural Complex, north of Morehead, and a combination parking garage and dining hall. All three are expected to be completed in the fall of 2016.
