Rowan County Flood Relief Center Now Open

Red Dot Buildings

Tracy Williams, Director of the Morehead/Rowan County Chamber of Commerce says contributions to “Operation Donation: Rowan County Cares” have been a little slow coming in since the effort to help local flood victims began last Friday (July 17).

Williams says the needs are great because the flood damaged more than just homes.

“If their homes weren’t damaged than maybe their outsides were damaged. And there’s a lot of cleanup and there’s a lot of efforts going on. So, if someone would like to donate items or to volunteer, we’ll certainly take the help to help our citizens in need….we need to take care of one another.”

Williams says donations of non-perishable food items and cleaning supplies are being accepted through Wednesday (July 22) at the former Rowan County Middle School located at Kentucky 32 and Sun Street. Hours are 9am to noon.

A list of items needed and additional information on recovery relief is available on the Morehead/Rowan County Chamber of Commerce website at: http://www.moreheadchamber.com
