Judge Maze Indicted

Lexington Herald Leader

A Circuit Court Judge is facing felony charges in Bath County.

Judge Beth Maze is facing official misconduct allegations and now has been indicted on criminal charges as well.

Maze presides over court in Montgomery, Menifee, Rowan, and Bath counties. She is currently suspended with pay pending the outcome of her case in a separate ethics investigation by the Judicial Conduct Commission.

According to the indictment handed down Thursday, Maze faces two counts of second-degree forgery and tampering with public records.

Maze’s attorney, Thomas Clay, says she was denied the opportunity to testify in front of the grand jury.

Maze is scheduled to appear in Bath circuit court on December 6th for a motion hour.
