OcTUBAfest 2024! presented by Downtown Morehead, Inc. with support of the International Tuba Euphonium Association - Earle L. Louder Chapter and the MSU Department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. The concert will feature the MSU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble, directed by Dr. Stacy Baker, Professor of Music - Tuba/Euphonium performing traditional Octoberfest music. Guest MSU Faculty Artists include: Dr. Lori Baruth, Professor of Clarinet; Dr. Brian Mason, Professor of Music - Percussion; Dr. Justin Croushore, Assistant Professor of Music - Trombone; and Dr. DuWayne Dale, Associate Professor of Music, Director of Bands. The MSU Tuba/Euphonium Ensemble is delighted to feature many alumni guest performers and welcome them back to campus. “OcTUBAFest is an annual celebration of the instruments of the tuba family. The first OcTUBAfest was held at Indiana University in 1972 by Harvey Phillips,” Baker said. “Our Morehead OcTUBAfest is styled after the traditional Bavarian Oktoberfest held in Germany, where the tuba was invented in 1835.”
