Individuals in Mason and Fleming counties who have wanted to pitch a business idea to investors will have the opportunity to do so during a "Shark Tank" event on June 18 in Morehead.
According to Mason County Entrepreneur Center Director Mike Jackson, the competition open to the Mason County and Fleming County residents will take place in Morehead. If the local investors like the ideas, the winners will move on to pitch their ideas to the entire Kentucky Angel Investors Network in November.
Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear said the competition features entrepreneurs presenting their business ideas to the local Angel network who will provide capital for a startup company. The winners will receive cash prizes in addition to the opportunity to move on to the entire network in November.
"It's a fantastic opportunity for anyone wanting to start a new business or expand an existing one," Jackson said. "My understanding is that it's set up just like the actual Shark Tank show in which the local investors sit and hear pitch ideas from entrepreneurs."
Jackson said although the Mason County Center is not affiliated with the "Shark Tank" competition, as they have their own pitch your plan event, the center would be willing to help any individual who plans to pitch in Morehead.
"We would be happy to help anyone with their pitch, business plan and any other questions they have," he said. "This is an opportunity that I would encourage anyone with a business or a business plan to go for it."
