Closure Of Big Sandy Plant Could Have Deep Economic Impact

Ashland City Commissioner Kevin Gunderson says it’s too early to know the financial impact that the planned closure of the Big Sandy coal-fired power plant in Lawrence County will have on the regional economy. However, Gunderson believe the closure will have a significant impact on the region.

“Those are high-paying jobs going away from the Kentucky Power plant in Louisa.” –Kevin Gunderson

Gunderson says the elimination of good-paying jobs will impact revenues in both Lawrence and Boyd Counties.
