Four with MSU ties vying for Miss Kentucky crown

Three Morehead State University students and one recent graduate are among the 30 contestants that will compete in the 2016 Miss Kentucky Pageant. Those contestants are Annie Franklin of Winchester who graduated in May, KarleeCrose of Mt. Sterling, DakodaTrenary of Corinth and Kelsey Ulery of Owingsville.

According to its website, each student gained entry into the 2016 Miss Kentucky Pageant by winning an official preliminary pageant in their respective regions. Franklin captured Miss Bowling Green, Crose won Miss Ohio Valley, Trenary was the winner of Miss Monticello pageant and Ulery won the Miss Bath County title.

The event's preliminary competitions will take place at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 30, and Friday, July 1, with the finals and crowning set for 6 p.m., Saturday, July 2. Each day of the pageant will be held at the Singletary Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Tickets are available by calling the Singletary Center box office at 859-257-4929.

Supporters of the two can possibly play an important role in the pageant's outcome. One of the semifinalists for Miss Kentucky will be voted in by the public rather than the judges' panel. Each vote costs $1 and can be made by credit card or PayPal at www.Misskentuckypageant.com with no voting limit.

The winner will go on to represent Kentucky in the Miss America Pageant in 2016. In addition, more than $39,000 in cash scholarships will be awarded during the pageant's duration.

Each day of the pageant will be held at the Singletary Center for the Arts on the campus of the University of Kentucky in Lexington. Tickets are $35 for each preliminary night, $65 for the finals and available by calling the Singletary Center box office at 859-257-4929.
