St. Claire Regional Hospice Volunteer Program Hosts Food Drive

St. Claire Regional Medical Center

The St. Claire Regional (SCR) Hospice volunteer program is hosting a non-perishable food drive from now until the end of November. Due to poor weather conditions, accessibility and affordability, many patients and their families experience hardship for weeks at a time. As the colder weather approaches, SCR wants to make sure they have enough food to last them throughout the winter season.

Donations can be dropped off at the SCR Hospice office (201 Lyons Ave.), the front entrance of the Medical Center, and at Walmart and Kroger in Morehead.

Donating to the food drive isn’t the only way you can help! SCR Hospice volunteers are needed to offer patients friendly visits and assistance with reading and writing, personal care, running errands and grocery shopping. “One day I walked into Hospice and offered to volunteer for their program and it has been life altering,” Erika Gordon, SCR Hospice volunteer said. “It doesn’t take much to sit with a patient and be a friend to let them know we care about them.”

SCR Hospice is focused on compassionately helping people cope with what many fear most about dying. Our team of professionals and trained volunteers provide medical care, pain management and emotional and spiritual support, while keeping the patient and their family’s wishes the top priority.

For more information, contact Amber Stamper, SCR Hospice Volunteer Coordinator, at 606.783.6887. Volunteer applications are available online at www.st-claire.org/volunteer.
