22nd Annual St. Claire Foundation Benefit Golf Outing Raises More Than $80K for Charity Care Fund

St. Claire Regional Medical Center

Thanks to many generous sponsors, more than $80,000 was raised Thursday, Sept. 8, during the 22nd Annual St. Claire Foundation Benefit Golf Outing! Money raised from the outing each year supports the St. Claire Charity Care Fund, which helps us provide quality healthcare to low-income families in our region. Last year, St. Claire Regional (SCR) provided $3.4 million in charity and uncompensated care, at cost.

More than 60 companies participated in this year’s outing, including several new sponsors. “We are very pleased with the level of support shown,” Joni Mraz, St. Claire Foundation Coordinator of Development, says. “A big thank you goes out to our sponsors and to the SCR Staff and volunteers who helped to make this day a success. We were blessed with great people, a beautiful day and lots of fun!”

Kentucky Bank (formerly Peoples Bank) has been one of the event’s most dedicated sponsors, having participated in each of the 22 outings. “For us, supporting St. Claire Regional is one of the many ways we are investing to improve the community we live in,” says B. Proctor “Proc” Caudill, Kentucky Bank Board of Directors member and former Kentucky Bank president and CEO. “Whether we support the hospital through the annual golf outing or by other means, we do it because they add so much to the economic health and quality of life we enjoy here in Morehead and in the surrounding communities. Healthcare close to home is something we all need to be thankful for!”

Another longtime sponsor that has been with the hospital since the outing began 22 years ago is The Citizens Bank. Ryan Neff, The Citizens Bank vice president, says the annual outing ranks at the top of his list. “This is probably my favorite golf outing of the year,” he says. “You get to meet people who are friends and supporters of St. Claire Regional and our entire region. And on top of that, they do a wonderful job as far as hospitality goes, with great people, food, door prizes and just an overall good time!”

Winners of the morning flight were the SCR Healthcare Claims Management team, third place; SCR Data Strategy team, second place; and Wehr Constructors, first place. Winners from the afternoon flight included Aramark, third place; Passport Health Plan, second place; and Larry Fannin Chevrolet-Buick-GMC, first place. Scott Poage with American Business Systems was the winner of the Fleming-Mason Energy Golf Ball Drop, but he generously donated his winnings back to the foundation. Congratulations to all of the winners!
