County-Wide Alcohol Sales passes in Rowan

Rowan County voters went to the polls today in the primary election. 3,935 ballots were cast across 18 precincts. 

Many residents had their eyes on the wet/dry vote, which passed with 2,708 yes votes and 1,195 voting against the measure. The passing vote means that county-wide alcohol sales will be legal as soon as the Fiscal Court creates a plan for implementation. 

In the District 4 Magistrate race, Democratic Incumbent Rob Hamm got 268 votes and challenger Donny Oney received 166.

In the Republican Sheriff’s primary, Donnie Hall received 1,021 votes and challenger Edward Owens received 193.

In the 99th Democratic State Representative race, Kevin Anderson received 1,370 votes defeating Eddie Frazier, who received 388.

In the race for US Senate, Republican Incumbent Rand Paul received 1,225 votes, his closest competitor in Rowan was Valerie “Dr. Val” Fredrick with 60 votes.

In the Democratic Primary for the seat, Charles Booker received 1,190 votes in Rowan while Joshua Wesley Blanton SR. received 228.

In the Fifth District House race, incumbent Hal Rogers received 1,020 votes. Jeannette Andrews received 71, and all other challenges received less than 50 votes each.
