The Rowan County Board of Education will meet in special session tonight to discuss the district’s current mask mandate.
With the number of Covid positive cases in the county and across the state trending downward, the Board will make the consideration one day after the governor rescinded the mandate for state buildings.
Rowan County Superintendent John Maxey says the Board feels it is time to make mask optional, while continuing to recommend their use.
The meeting will be held tonight at the Rowan County Board of Education Building on Viking drive. It is open to the public and will begin at 6 p.m.
