Friends & Folk aired on WMKY (90.3FM) from 1991 to 1998. More than 300 programs were produced in the series which could be heard every Saturday afternoon. Steve Young was host and producer of the popular radio series. He was joined by friends Glenn Buckner and Harvey Pennington.
A Time For Tales

Carolyn Franzini is the host of A Time For Tales, a weekly program of stories told by professional storytellers. Each program features stories and songs that relate to a selected theme. On this program, African-American storytellers Dr. Rex M. Ellis and Jackie Torrence share their stories. Special music provided by Dom Flemons and Rhiannon Giddens.
Summer of Racial Reckoning
Labor Day from 9am-Noon
Since the killing of George Floyd in an arrest by Minneapolis Police on May 25th, the summer has unfolded with an outpouring of grief, anger and calls to action. NPR is producing three one-hour specials, comprising new reporting as well as our best reporting on racial injustice, the protests that have swept the country and where the nation is headed. The series is called “Summer of Racial Reckoning” and is hosted by NPR’s Ailsa Chang and Rachel Martin.
- Episode One explores the lives of the people at the center of the protests whose deaths sparked the movement. Labor Day @ 9am.
- Episode Two focuses on deeply rooted systemic racism opposed in the protests. Labor Day @ 10am.
- Episode Three reports on what has come of the protests so far, and the nation’s path forward. Labor Day @ 11am.
In each hour, Chang and Martin step through the story with other NPR hosts and correspondents bringing the last three months of American history into focus in a new way.
