Work under way on two more AA Highway bridge improvements in Lewis County

Kentucky Today

Work to improve two more AA Highway bridges in Lewis County is now under way as part of a $1.4 million Transportation Cabinet seven-bridge improvement project in northeast Kentucky.

With work complete on the AA Highway (KY 9) bridge over Salt Lick Creek at Vanceburg, crews have moved to the KY 9 (AA) bridge over Ben Willen Branch at milepoint 17.3 five miles north of Vanceburg, and to the KY 9 (Grayson spur) bridge over Kinniconnick Creek at milepoint 4.3.

Both bridges will be reduced to one lane with traffic controlled by temporary signals for about the next 30 days.

Resurfacing work includes grinding down old concrete, repairing any potholes, and applying a new smoother layer of latex concrete to the bridge’s driving surface.

The project is being done by M&M Services Co., Inc., under a $1,358,691.50 low-bid Kentucky Transportation Cabinet contract to improve seven bridges in Fleming and Lewis counties.

Road work schedules are subject to change depending on weather conditions. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow-down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
