Road Improvements Planned Between Morehead and Vanceburg

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet wants to know how best to improve your drive between Vanceburg and Morehead.

And, to answer that question, engineers are now gathering information about the KY 59-KY 344-KY 377 state highway corridor that links the AA Highway (KY 9) at Vanceburg in Lewis County to Big Perry Road (KY 799) at Triplett in northern Rowan County.

During the next few months, motorists and residents might see field personnel studying traffic flow, taking measurements and photographs, counting vehicles or otherwise documenting transportation issues close to properties in the study area.

The work is being done by engineering firm Qk4, which was selected by the Transportation Cabinet to conduct a $500,000 planning study for practical improvements that reduce travel time and enhance safety between Vanceburg and Morehead, while improving regional connectivity from the AA Highway to Interstate 64.

In addition to field work, engineers will also host public meetings this summer to further explain the project and gather input from local residents and roadway users. Meeting times and locations will be announced at a later date.
