State Representative Hubie Collins says the widening of the Mountain Parkway will bring new jobs and opportunities to eastern Kentucky but not right away.
The Democrat from Johnson County notes that Kentucky’s new road plan includes 123- million dollars over two years to continue the Mountain Parkway project.
However, Collins is not expecting work to begin anytime soon.
“You’ve got to survey it and design it by the right of way, utilities, get them replaced before a contract can be let. So, I’m looking right now toward the end of these two years.” –Hubie Collins
Collins says a four-lane road from Winchester to Pikeville will open the whole region for development.
